Pittsfield Website Committee
April 21, 2008
The Pittsfield Website Committee was called to order @ 7:05 pm.
Members present:
Clayton Wood, Chair
Bob Legg

Harry Vogt, Secretary
1. Minutes of March 17, 2008 were approved.
2. Ongoing Business
a. Webmaster’s report: In anticipation of the switch over to the new site, Bill has made minimal changes to the site.
b. Posting of individual names on the website: Clayton will write a policy for review by the committee at the next meeting.
c. New Website Schedule: May 1st remains the target date for switching over to the new site. Clayton Woods will prepare a news release for publishing in the Suncook Sun, Concord Monitor and Channel 24. Bill Provencal will put a notice on the exiting website. Matt will include a note on the new site’s home page welcoming visitors to the new website. Information regarding the new site will also be available at the Chambers’ business showcase.
d. Miscellaneous Comments/Suggestions Regarding the New Site:
i. Photo slide show will be moved up so it is visible when the site opens.
ii. Visitor counter will no longer be used.
iii. Where possible the list of departments & committees on the left side will be minimized.
iv. Matt will look at the possibility of having items clicked on the side bars change color once they have been viewed.
v. Comment box to be added to front page.
vi. Policies link to be added to bottom menu bar.
vii. Site Map to be added to bottom bar.
viii. “Town Document” will be changed to one line.
ix. “News and Announcements” to be edited down to remove repeated information.
x. Dustin Park link needs to be filled in.
xi. Lyman Park needs to link to more parks.
xii. Library is missing picture.
xiii. School Administration to be consolidated to one link.
xiv. Window for documents is too tight. Clayton and Matt will look at ways to resolve. Width of page may be changed from 800 to 1024 for this section.
xv. Side bars to be removed from photo site.
xvi. Additional committee comments to be e-mailed to Matt.
3. New Business
A. With introduction of the new website, the role of the webmaster will be moved to the committee as a whole versus one individual. (Thank you Bill for the years you’ve dedicated to this task)
B. New Website Information: Meeting minutes make up the majority of the new information posted to the website. The goal of the new website is, in part, to automate the posting of this information by having the minutes submitted to the committee in the form of an e-mail. Following the review of submitted information by one or more committee members, the minutes will be posted to the website.
C. Photo Archives: For purposes of historic preservation, committee felt it would be best to archive photos used on the website in their full resolution format prior to cropping.
D. Modern Concepts: Matt will place a banner ad at the bottom of the home page for his business in lieu of monetary compensation. Clayton reviewed this proposal with the Town Administrator last week. Town Administrator said there would be no problem with doing this.
E. Links to Recreational Activity Sites: The committee voted 4 to 1 to remove links connecting to miscellaneous recreational activity sites such as skiing, hiking & snow mobile trails. The basis of the vote was that these links do not comply with adopted policies.
F. Police Log Link: Link to the police log will be removed till committee has further conversation with the Town Administrator and/or Police Chief about purpose of posting this information on the website.
