Pittsfield Economic Development Committee
April 23, 2014

1. Meeting opened at 5:34.

2. Attendees: Ted Mitchell (TM), Lyn Roberts (LR), Linda Small (LS), Paul Sherwood (PSh),
Susan Muenzinger (SM), Donna Ward (DW), and Ellen Barbasso (EB).

3. Minutes for April 9, 2014 were accepted with one correction. LAMCOR should be all caps.

4. Update on Rustic Crust
A. Site is getting cleaned up
B. Letter from Board of Selectmen to Brad Sterl expressing congratulations on successfully moving
ahead with temporary site and the clean up. Expansion of RSA 79E was approved

5. LAMCOR – They are looking at different locations for a new site

6. ProPoint – They are very busy out of state and cannot work on Union Block property yet

7. Irving Property
A. TM sent Stuart Arnett the last letter he sent to Irving
B. Stu Arnett will contact them

8. All Chair Meeting May 14
A. Discuss All Board/Committee Forum
B. Topic will be downtown zoning
1. Clayton Wood and Jesse Pacheco can set up the focus of the meeting.

9. Pittsfield Listens
A. 12-13 people attended, including Ted Mitchell and Donna Ward
B. Ted and Donna provided the mission, vision and Town Report and communication flow chart
C. Ideas about downtown
1. Improve appearance
D. Rt 28 – improve appearance-clean up areas on side of road
E. Window front appearance
competition for holidays-Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring fall
get students involved have them decorate
F. Real estate-what brings people into town, what is keeping them away
Schools are not as much of an issue now as it was in the past
G. Taxes are major issue, in other towns the cost of property is higher

10. Future forums-Agriculture
A. Coop farm
1. Many people in Pittsfield are into gardening and organic gardening
2. Town would own property, people would farm it
3. Could sell produce at a farmer’s market
B. TM is getting a list of people who might be interested in a quality farmers market.
C. Livestock farms
1. Find unused farms to be used for livestock
2. Use it for grazing cattle, pigs and sheep for food
3. There is a market for locally raised meat.
D. Women in business

11. Other-CEDS (Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies)
A. Have 35 projects
B for Pittsfield-NEMO welding school

12. Would the EDC like to sponsor a “meet and greet” for the new town administrator?
A. He starts May 1
B. Perhaps Board of Selectmen can do it, and EDC can do the footwork
C. Linda S will check with the rest of the Board.
D. Invite him to the All Board meeting and have a copy of his resume available

13. Improve appearance of town- do a clean up of garbage on streets
A. Adopt a street program
B. On May 2 students from PMHS will be going around cleaning the streets
C. Ted will talk to John Freeman and George Batchelder

14. Next EDC meeting will be May 14, 2014 at 5:30 P.M.
