Minutes of the Josiah Carpenter Library Trustees Meeting
8/12/2008

The meeting of the Trustees of the Josiah Carpenter Library was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

In attendance: Director Leslie Vogt, Mary Schelble and Bill Provencal. Absent Sylvia Wallace

Acceptance of Minutes: The minutes of July12, 2008 were accepted as printed..

Old Business:
· Meeting with Town of Pittsfield Board of Trustees:
Discussed RSA 669:7Incompatibility of Offices. Terry Knowles of the NH AG Office reported that a Library Trustee and Trustee of Trust Funds are not listed as incomparable offices.
Discussion on the investment strategy we should take with our Trust Funds held by the Board of Trustees of the town was postponed until next month when Sylvia will be in attendance
· Discussion of NH Historical Collection:
Leslie has been in contact with PHS Library about their interest in holding the collection. A motion was made and seconded to offer this collection to PHS Library with a deadline of September 9th for a response. Motion was accepted.
· Review of Draft Budget for 2009:
The proposed budget for 2009 was heavily discussed, the affect of hours of operation of the library, days open. Motion was made and seconded to continue to examine the budget as presented. We will await the results of the meeting with Cara Marston and Leslie.

Reports:
· Directors Report
The Directors report was presented and discussed..
· Treasurers Report was presented and discussed briefly. Motion made and seconded and approved to accept both the Directors Report and the Treasurers Report.

New Business:
· The trustees authorized Leslie to purchase the new rugs and 6 office chairs for the library.
· Discussion on the leak in the boiler room and the bats over the entrance to the library. An e-mail with be sent to the Board of Selectmen about the lack of action by the Building Inspector in repair of the foundation leak in the furnace room and the removal of bats in the eave over the front door.

The next meeting will be on September 9that 6:30 pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:36 pm.
