August 12, 2009

1. Meeting opened at 5:34.

2. Attendees: Ed Vien (EV), James Hetu (JH), Lyn Roberts (LR), Helen Schiff (HS), Deb
Jordan (DJ), Susan Muenzinger (SM), Ellen Barbasso (EB), Linda Small (LS), Paul
Skowron (PS), Matt Monahan representing CNHRPC, and Scott Spradling (SS) from the
Spradling Group LLC.

3. Minutes from August 5, 2009 approved and accepted as written.

4. Scott Spradling
A. Phase 1 We need to come up with a plan
1.This is a combined effort between Selectmen, EDC and Suncook ValleyRegional
Development Corp (SVRDC)
B. Business Survey
1. Purpose of survey is to get ideas and feedback from businesses
2. Questions 1 and 2 are good
3. Should include a question about transportation for employees
4. What is their perception of local people as potential work force
5. Focus on business locations not home base businesses
6. Some businesses may want to keep their name confidential-survey for our purpose
only, not to be shared with the public
C. What tools do we have at our disposal?
1. 79E- tax incentive to improve building-lower local taxes
2. 162N business tax credit from the state
3. Free Wi-Fi
4. Need to get a centralized list of these and other tools at our disposal
D. What properties are available for sale?
1. Need 2 lists-properties on Rt 28 and downtown
2. There may be problems getting curb cuts on Rt 28-since not all properties have
authorized access points-Scott will check with DOT
3. Zoning changes may have to be made to the boundary of the LIC district along Rt 28
4. SS will check with Mike Bergeron on how to list available properties in Pittsfield
on the DRED database.
E. Things to do
1. MM will get an updated list of businesses and properties
2. SS will draft a letter for the Suncook Sun-he is here to help the town but also
needs feedback from businesses-tie in with survey
3. SS will also check with Mike Bergeron on how to improve town web site
a. Willing to meet with website committee
b. Simplify home page-Town, EDC, History and Community
c. Want to attract new businesses and help current ones

5. What are other towns doing?
A. Check out Claremont web site
B. Also look at Peterborough and Allenstown
