August 28, 2014 Minutes

Pittsfield Conservation Commission (PCC)
Draft Minutes for August 28, 2014 Meeting

Call to order: 7:02 PM by Chairman Chris Hill.

Present: Chairman Chris Hill (CH), Secretary Diana Westgate (DW), Members Carl Wallman (CW), Owen David (OD), Bill Miskoe (BMis).

Meeting minutes: July 24 accepted with changes.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer was absent; this report was tabled until next meeting.

Old Business

Bear-Paw Goose Pond Conservation Update: They expect it to be finished by October. They received funds from us. Annual membership for Bear-Paw is $100.

Town-owned Lots Consolidation Project Update: Since many lots are in a bad area for development (most lots have not sold) and the PCC is already managing them, we would like to have them consolidated into one property to be designated as conservation land. Together the lots comprise approximately 137 acres.

NHACC Conference: It is being held November 1st in Laconia. CH sent out a link for this.

New Business

Land Use Percentage Take Out. The PCC is given a lower percentage of the money received when land comes out of current use than is given to conservation commissions in surrounding towns. We are looking into the mechanism for changing this.

Internships. CH and BM are looking into creating internships with the PCC and the Pittsfield School System.

Ag Commission. Ray Connor would like to have an informal public session. It may be best for this to happen after the Ag Commission is created.

Adjournment: 7:50 PM.

The next meeting will be September 25, 2014.
