July minutes were accepted as written.

Dustins Park
– We have only received one contractor response to our RFQ, and it was significantly over budget. Jeremy and Donna requested that we split the request so that gazebo and lighting are separate, and then labor and materials are broken out for both. The committee agreed, and Jeremy will modify the quote.

– Lyn has researched local contractors and a list of 6 has been provided to Hank. Jeremy will check with Hank to ensure that the RFQ is mailed to these contractors, and Hank adds any other contractors he thinks would be interested. Jeremy will also put an ad in the Concord Monitor for more exposure.

– St. Stevens church has requested use of the park on October 2, 2004 and this was approved by the committee.

– Pittsfield Youth Soccer has requested the use of a portion of the Town Common a few times a week and this was approved by the committee.

Town Swimming Area
– In reviewing insurance needs for a private function at the swim area, Jeremy was notified by our insurance company that they have increased their requirement for coverage. This would apply to any properties under Parks and Rec, and is not limited to the swimming area. The committee agreed to submit the issue to the Selectman for reference with legal counsel, and clarification on our policy. Donna agreed to initiate this topic at the next Selectmans meeting.

– Jeremy also suggested that we clarify the town’s open container policy for alcoholic beverages on our Facility Use Form. The committee agreed, and Jeremy will update the forms appropriately.

– Rather than our standard “Pool Day”, we will have “Closing Day” at the swimming area, with ice cream sundaes at 2pm on August 21st.

New Members
The committee welcomed Kathy Boudreau and Dave Valentyn as new members.
