Minutes of the Josiah Carpenter Library Trustees Meeting

The meeting of the Trustees of the Josiah Carpenter Library was called to order at 6:30
p.m. on December11, 2007 in the children’s room of the library.
In attendance: Director Leslie Vogt, Mary Schelble, Bill Provencal, and Sylvia Wallace
Acceptance of Minutes: The minutes of November 13 were accepted as written.
Old Business:
Review draft Library Functions and Programs policy: After discussion, the motion was
made, seconded, and approved to accept the policy as revised.
Reports:
Motions were made, seconded and approved to accept the director’s report and financial
report.
New Business:
Discuss possible changes to the format of financial reports: Leslie asked if the Board
would like to have quarterly summary reports instead of biannual, and if she should
change the format of the monthly reports by placing the totals in the right hand column
instead of the left column. The Board agreed to these proposed changes.
Discuss 2008 Library Calendar: Leslie asked if she should close the Library on December
26, 2008, because Christmas will be on a Thursday. It was motioned, seconded, and
approved to close the Library on December 24, 25, and 26. It will reopen on Saturday,
Dec. 27.
Discuss encumbering funds for electrical work: Bill said he’d talk with Leon about the
upgrade. Board members revised and signed Leslie’s letter to the Select Board requesting
the remaining funds from the library roof repair be encumbered for other building
maintenance needs at the library.
The next meeting will be on January 8, 2008 at 6:30 pm.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
