Pittsfield Conservation Commission (PCC)
December 17, 2012 Meeting Minutes

Call to order: 7:00 PM, by PCC Chairman Mark Wallace.

Present: Members: Chairman Mark Wallace (MW), Vice Chairman Brian Mika (BM), Chris Hill (CH), Secretary Diana Westgate (DW), Paul Metcalf(PM).Visitors: Nick St. Germain, Keith Donovan, Bill Miskoe, Carl Wallman

Treasurer’s Report: $47,276.27 remains in the LUTC conservation fund.

Meeting Minutes: The minutes of the November 19 meeting were reviewed and accepted.

Public Input: Bill Miskoe recommended Carl Wallman as an excellent candidate for the PCC. Some questions were asked about the bylaws. The PCC is an advisory committee to the Board of Selectmen. Its purpose is to oversee natural resources (wetlands, forest. water resources) and the acquisition of properties for conservation purposes.

Old Business
1. Thompson Forest. A letter came in concerned about the cutting that was done. BM checked on it and thought the work was okay. Some water bars need to be installed. Mounds of soil and stump piles should be removed and the stone wall needs to be put back. It is on the agenda for a BOS meeting December 18. The work is mostly done. The area is wet in places. The ruts have been fixed. .January 3rd there is a snowmobile meeting that CH plans to attend.
2. Committee Search Effort All the visitors were encouraged to fill out forms to apply to the PCC.
3. Sign for Berry Pond. Signs marking the Berry Pond Farm and Thompson Road areas are being made.

Letter of Resignation
Mark Wallace submitted his letter of resignation as a member of the PCC. He is moving to Maine. We appreciate his fine service as president and will miss his presence on the PCC.

PCC Forward looking Effort
The PCC will prioritize a list of what it wishes to accomplish in 2013.
