Minutes of Josiah Carpenter Library Trustees Meeting
December 8, 2009

The meeting of the Trustees of the Josiah Carpenter Library was called to order at 6:30 p.m. on December 8, 2009, in the children’s room of the library.
Present: Chair Sylvia Wallace
Treasurer Mary Schelble
Director Roza Benoit
Secretary Dana Sansom

Acceptance of the Minutes .The minutes of November 10, 2009 meeting were accepted as written
Reports:
• Director’s Report
Programs:
1.) Preschool Story Hour has had good attendance since last month’s update, averaging 5-6 moms, and 8 to 11 children.

Building Maintenance:
1.) The furnace has been cleaned.

Library Staffing:
1.) April is missed
2.) Annie is fitting in well and picking up where April left off.
3.) They will have a staff meeting Tuesday the 15th with a lunch and cookie exchange.

Library Operations:
1.) Weeding continues. Some have rescued books from the “LAST CHANCE” books.
2.) The New York Times Bestseller lists continue to be appreciated.
3.) The Roaming Reader’s from the Leslie Vogt honorarium are circulating.
4.) The Globe donated $500.

• Treasurer’s Report

The Director’s Report and the Treasurer’s Report were accepted.

Old Business:
• Building Maintenance update -The furnace has been cleaned.
The second Quote for the windows is in the process
• Review year-to-date Budget
• Personnel Policy- we reviewed the new personnel policy that Sylvia put together
Dana made the motion to accept the New Personnel policy after it has been revised. Sylvia seconded.

New Business:

• Discussed having an alternate trustee in 2010 – per Sylvia. Discussion tabled
until next month.
• We authorized Roza to write letter requesting pay cut and hours increase for herself.
• There was motion made by Mary to move money (125.53) from training- 053 to 0701-010 salaries to cover the overlap of salaries from training the new circulation assistant
• There was a motion made by Mary that the 500.00 given to the Library by the Globe be used to pay for the internet based NH Audio books program
• Sylvia made the motion that for 2010 only Roza will be able to roll over 2 unused holidays in addition to her normal 2010 holidays
• Grant is coming out in January for License plate grant. Roza will help Sylvia
The Trustee meeting adjourned at 9 pm
