Minutes of the Josiah Carpenter Library Trustees Meeting

The meeting of the Trustees of the Josiah Carpenter Library was called to order at 6:30
p.m. on February 12, 2008 in the children’s room of the library.
In attendance: Director Leslie Vogt, Mary Schelble and Bill Provencal. Absent Sylvia
Wallace
Acceptance of Minutes: The minutes of January 8, 2008 were accepted as printed..
Old Business:
Annual Library Report: Motion made and seconded to accept the Annual Library
Report as submitted by the Library Director.
Reports:
? Directors Report: Leslie indicated that attendance for 2007 for the Children’s
Hour had dropped. Leslie indicated that she has run this program for several
years and thought a change in personnel might be in order. Sylvia Wallace has
indicated her interest in participating in the Story Hour. Leslie will continue to
explore other possibilities of personnel involvement. Leslie also mentioned the
possibility of a budget reduction and that the Trustees should be aware of this.
? Treasurers Report: The Treasurers Report was presented and several questions
were directed at Leslie in reference to future funding.
? Motion was made and seconded and approved to accept the Directors and
Treasurers Report.
New Business:
? Pittsfield Players: Meggin Dail of the Pittsfield Players appeared before the
Trustees to talk about the possibility of the library taking over ticket sales. She
indicated what our responsibly would be, what the down side of the action might
be. A number of questions were directed to Meggin by the Trustees about our
concerns. The Trustees discussed their concerns after Meggin left. It was felt
our biggest concerns were the handling of cash from ticket sales, telephone sales
and the time constraints that this would involve. A motion was made and
seconded that we would not make the library available for the sale of tickets.
Mary was to notify Meggin as to our decision. Space was offered to the Players
to use the library for ticket sales with a member of their board or else a volunteer
of theirs.
The next meeting will be on March 11th at 6:30 pm.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10pm.
