JOSIAH CARPENTER LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING

Minutes of the Josiah Carpenter Library Trustees meeting

2/21/2007

The meeting of the Trustees of the Josiah Carpenter Library was called to order at 6:01 pm on February 21, 2007, in the children’s room of the library.

In attendance were, Leslie Vogt, Director; Bob Lemer; Mary Schelble and Bill Provencal.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted.

Old Business:

Technology Plan. Plan was reviewed, two suggestions were made by Bill one in reference to the Library Website Committee and the need to have an outside person with website background on the committee and the second on in reference to having Technology programs available to the public. Leslie will incorporate both changes into the “Plan”.
Circulation History. Bill questioned again the Adult Circulation figure and the Children’s Circulation figure in that they were confusing. Leslie agreed to indicate by a asterisk exactly what the figures meant and why they did not agree with the Town Report statistics.
Contents of Safe Deposit box. It was moved and seconded to cancel the contract for the box. The contents to be stored in the fire proof cabinet at the Town Hall.
Book Discussion. Twelve individuals were involved in this months book discussion group. Leslie brought up the possibility of future book discussion groups with Rotary club involvement. It was brought up that this might require a policy review of meetings held in the library. It was decided that Rotary should present a proposal as to what they are planning. The Trustees would in turn review the policy as to meetings held in the library and what can be done.

Reports:

Directors report was presented. Bill mentioned the problem with Windows Vista as an operating system. It was moved to accept the directors report as presented
Monthly Financial Report was presented and discussed.

New Business:

Master Plan. The library portion of the plan was reviewed. Some minor grammatical changes noted, Bill thought a mention should be made as to the need to upgrade the electrical service to handle increased needs. Leslie will make the necessary corrections.

Bob Lemer. As this was the last meeting that Bob Lemer would be a trustee, Mary presented Bob with a card and gift certificate for his three years of outstanding service to the Carpenter Library as member of the Board of Trustees.

The next meeting of the Trustees will be held on March 20, 2007, at 6:30 pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm.
