Minutes of Meeting
July 18, 2005
Chairman Elkins called the meeting of the Housing Standards Agency to order at 7:03 P.M. on Monday July 18, 2005 in the Pittsfield Town Hall. Chairman Elkins called a roll of the members present.

Chairman Bill Elkins, Vice Chair Stan Bailey, Fire Dept Rep. Nick Able, Members- Cedric Dustin III, Frederick Okrent, Dave Simpson, Planning Board Rep., Henry FitzGerald III Administrator and Inspector

Review of Minutes:
Minutes of the June 20, 2005 meeting were circulated for review. Mr. Simpson made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Mr. Okrent seconded. Minutes were approved 6-0.
Old Business:
A General discussion by the board concerning Dave Simpson’s memo on the Inspection/Reinspection fees. The board agreed to hold a Public Hearing on July 25, 2005 to update the fee structure for inspections, no shows and reinspections.
Nick Able delivered to the board a letter to be used in addressing the battery only smoke detector issue. Hank FitzGerald will send these letters out to the landlords requesting they appear before the board on August 22, 2005 at 7:00 P.M.
New Business:
The board discussed licensing and payment of fees. They decided that no licenses should be issued until payment is received. It was also agreed that under Section 103.6 that interest would be charged from 30 days after 1st billing.
The board discussed making the Ordinances available on line at the Town web page for free or a hard copy from the Town Hall at a cost of $20.00.
General discussion concerning fines. Nick Able suggested the following be used as guidelines for fining based on per a per unit per day per violation basis.
