MINUTES

Pittsfield School Board

July 6, 2006

I. CALL TO ORDER

Members Present: Scott Brown, Chairman

Mary Paradise, Vice Chairman

Gary Colby

Leslie Vogt

Christopher Ward

Chairman Brown called the meeting to order at 6:05 PM.

II. NON-PUBLIC SESSION

Chris Ward made a motion, seconded by Leslie Vogt, to enter into Non-Public Session. The Board voted unanimously in favor.

The Board discussed the negotiated contract with the EAP. Mary Paradise brought the Board up to date on the details of the one year contract. The teachers ratified the contract on June 29, 2006.

The Board discussed the effect this contract would have on the tax rate, as well as the prospects for changes in the health insurance and evaluation tool.

Mary Paradise made a motion, seconded by Gary Colby, to exit Non-Public Session. The Board voted unanimously in favor.

III. RATIFICATION OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING CONTRACT

Mary Paradise made a motion, seconded by Scott Brown, to ratify the contract negotiated by the Team.

Highlights of the contract:

· 4% increase to salary base (step) / salary track remains the same – resulting raises 3-12% depending on years of service (step) and educational level (track).

· Insurance cap is replaced by percentages: Single – 100%, Two Person – 85%, Family – 65% of Blue Cross/Blue Choice Plan.

· EAP agrees to consider change to another health care provider with mutual agreement.

· Evaluation tool previously considered will be brought forth for reconsideration and a committee will consider minor changes for possible implementation in 2007.

· Total cost to District will be approximately $297,000.

After a poll, the Board voted unanimously in favor of ratification of the contract.

Mary Paradise made a motion, seconded by Chris Ward, to petition the Superior Court for a Special School District Meeting to take place on October 12, 2006 for the purpose of voting on negotiated teacher contract.

IV. ADJOURNMENT

Mary Paradise made a motion, seconded by Chris Ward to adjourn the meeting. The Board voted unanimously in favor and the meeting was adjourned at 6:53 PM.
