Minutes of the Josiah Carpenter Library Trustees meeting

The meeting of the Trustees of the Josiah Carpenter Library was called to order at 6:29 pm on June 14, 2006, in the children’s room of the library.

In attendance were, Leslie Vogt, Bob Lemer, Mary Schelble, and Doug Andrews.

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted.

There was a discussion regarding the type of coin holder that should be purchased for the coins that were left to the library. Leslie had selected a very nice unit that would hold all four coins, allowing both sides to be seen. This was agreed upon.

There was a discussion regarding what if anything can be done to both help the children who come into the library from being exposed to pornographic, hate filled, and violent material on the internet, as well as, give the parents a bit of information as to what their children might be exposed to. It was agreed that Doug Andrews would draft a sample revision of the current permission slip that is sent home with the children. This will be discussed at the next meeting.

There was also a discussion regarding the renewal of the current certificate of deposit. i.e. The addition of some funds and/or a change in the length of the term. Mary will be looking into the situation.

There was also a discussion as to how someone might make a memorial donation to the library.

The Trustees will also be looking into the need for the mortar in the retaining wall to be re-pointed.

The Director’s and Treasurer’s reports were discussed and approved

The next meeting of the Trustees will be held on July 12, 2006, at 6:30 pm. The meeting was adjourned at 7:43 pm.
