JUNE 9, 2014

Attendees: Ralph O’Dell – Chair, Ted Mitchell – Secretary,

1. Call to Order: 7:04 pm

2. Approval of May 26, 2014 Minutes

3. Visit to Rolling Green
– Facilities:
— No Elevators
— Nicely Maintained
— Common Activities Room is Small
– Programs: None.
— Residents Can Reserve Room
— Senior Center Provides Programs/Socializing

4. AARP Criteria for Evaluation of Senior Housing:
– Open Spaces/Buildings
– Transportation
– Respect/Inclusion
– Housing/Quality of Life
– Communication/Information Exchange
– Employment/Civic Participation
– Health and Community
– Social Participation
Rolling Green Scores Well in These Areas

5. General Focus When We Plan for Senior/Elderly Housing
– Amenities for Residents
— Use of Outdoors
— Activities Room
— Closeness to Downtown
— Shops
– Facilities Setup Should Be Similar to Epsom’s Elderly
Housing (Will Visit in July)

6. Ambulance Service
– Epsom Uses Charges for Service to Fund New
Equipment
– Pittsfield Puts Charges into General Fund
– Pittsfield Does Wellness Checks

7. Planning Board Will Take Cue From Master Plan to
Formulate Senior/Elderly Housing Criteria.
– Senior Housing is Not a Cluster Development it is
a Planned Unit Development (PUD) and as such
Should Not Be Lumped in With Cluster Ordinance.

8. Will Invite the Director, Senior Center and Welfare
Officer to Future Master Plan Committee Meetings.
