Pittsfield Conservation Commission (PCC)
March 28, 2013 Meeting Minutes

Call to order: 7:00 PM by Chairman Chris Hill.

Present: Members: Chairman Chris Hill (CH), Vice Chairman Brian Mika (BM), Secretary Diana Westgate (DW), Member Carl Wallman (CW) Alternate Bill Miskoe (BMis)
Visitors: Sheila Ward, Phil Auger

Meeting Minutes: The minutes of the February meeting were reviewed and accepted.

Treasurer’s Report: The PCC has three accounts: a general one for operating expenses of $650. There is an LUCT account that comes from taxes paid to remove land from current use restrictions and money acquired from other sources such as timber sales in a NHPDIP account. There is $47,000 in the LUCT account. Money spent from this account must be authorized by the selectmen. There is $6,317.23 in the NHPDIP account.

Public Input: Sheila Ward the coordinator of the high school internship program came to follow up on internship opportunities the PCC might offer Pittsfield high school students.

Old Business
1. Internship. CH and BM suggested some of the tasks available to an intern: visit conservation properties, check boundary lines, attend conferences: CH and BM will draw up a list of suggested tasks.
2. The Saving Special Places 2013 Conference takes place on April 6th. Several PCC members plan to attend.
3. PCC Budget Control Plan. Bmik has agreed to be the designated account keeper.

New Business
1. Phil Auger from Bear-Paw Regional Greenways brought an aerial map showing conservation and proposed conservation properties in the TL Storer – Boy Scout conservation project that is involved with. Parts of these properties are in or adjoin potential conservation properties in Pittsfield. Phil enlightened us on the various aspects of conservation stewardship.
2. We proposed having a meeting between Barnstead, Stafford and Pittsfield conservation groups to discuss conservation efforts on adjoining land parcels. Phil Auger agreed to look into that possibility.
3. CH highly recommended the 2013 Natural Resource Steward course.
4. A dredge permit has been issued for the Forest Argue town pool area.
