Dustins Park

Ray and Bill have met with a lighting vendor for Dustin’s Park, and have chosen attractive lighting that is similar in design (12’ poles) to the current lighting. They have specifically chosen lamps that will minimize light pollution. The committee agreed with a recommendation of black finish for the poles and lamps. The poles will have built in electrical sockets which will increase available power in the park, and reduce the safety hazards of extension cords. The sockets will be on a separate switch and will not be activated unless specifically needed for an event. Lighting of the gazebo was discussed, and it was agreed to keep the recessed lighting and add protective covers to prevent vandalism. It was also agreed to put a single light in the gazebo on a separate switch, and keep this light on all the time in order to reduce vandalism. Bill and Ray will have a complete spec sheet for the project at the next meeting.

The committee agreed to allow the Sunrise Farmers Market to use Dustin’s Park from June 10 – October 14. Construction on the park will likely be during that time, so we will make sure only one side of the park is under construction at a time so the Market can safely operate.

Town Beach Area

The committee agreed to cover the cost of 2 lifeguards for Old Home Day’s use on July 17th. This is needed for safety even if swimming is not scheduled.

Interviews for employees will be Monday May 3rd at 6:30.

The committee agreed to pay $320 for fish for the upcoming Fishing Derby on June 5th.

The committee agreed to pay up to $150 for making a float for Old Home Day.

Other Business

The committee agreed to host Oktoberfest on October 16th 11am-3pm, and give a deposit of up to $100 to the Bavarian Brothers Band for a performance at that time.

Jo Anne Ward’s term has come to an end, she will not be renewing. The committee thanks Jo Anne for all of her enthusiastic work over the years, she will truly be missed.
