JOSIAH CARPENTER LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING

Place: Carpenter Library

Time: 6:30 pm

Date: March 8, 2006

Attendance: Bob Lemer, Mary Schelble and Director Leslie Vogt.

Acceptance of Minutes for February 8, 2006: Bob moved, Mary seconded.

Director’s Report: Moved to accept by Mary, seconded by Bob.

Treasurer’s Report for February, 2006: accepted as presented, moved by Mary, seconded by Bob. Bob reviewed all timecards and signed checks.

The Public Service Policies for Patron and Library Personnel Responsibilities, including the Patron Complaint Form, were reviewed and moved by Mary, seconded by Bob to accept them.

A public hearing will be held later in the year to receive gifts given to the Library. The Director noted that an additional $400 memorial donation was received from the family of Stephen Francis Bachelder.

In reference to gifts, the Library was notified of the Probate Court’s filing of the Arnold Wells’ will. Bob Lemer will contact Mr. Barto, the attorney, to determine the Library’s next actions.

The Director reported on the employee who was out on sick leave. She is able to work now.

It was moved by Mary and seconded by Bob that the Town Hall pay the retroactive raises approved by the Trustees for 2006 year after the Library budget is approved at the Town meeting.

The Director reported that on February 25th, Saturday, the fire alarm went off. The Pittsfield Fire Department responded . They could not find any problems. If this occurs again, the alarm company will be called to check the alarm system. The Fire Department reminded the library personnel that the alarm is never to be turned off and the building should be evacuated immediately. All Library personnel have been reviewed on the procedures.

At the next meeting when there will be a new trustee, the 1 Year and 5 Year goals will be considered.

Since Joan Osborne was unable to attend the meeting, the decision was made to mail her the gift and card she was to receive to thank her for her service to the Library for the last 3 years as a trustee.
