The meeting of the Trustees of the Josiah Carpenter Library was called to order at 6:32 p.m. on May 13, 2008 in the children’s room of the library.
Present: Director Leslie Vogt
Chair Mary Schelble
Treasurer Bill Provencal
Secretary Sylvia Wallace

Acceptance of Minutes: The motion (Provencal/Schelble) to accept as written the minutes of April 8, 2008, passed unanimously.

Old Business: The Jameson Trust application written by Leslie was discussed. It was moved , seconded and approved unanimously to accept the proposal for submission. Leslie will give a copy to Leon for his information.

Reports: Leslie will purchase two Dell computers with 19 inch monitors for $728 per unit. She would like to have a wireless card in one, which would add another $40.00. These will replace the oldest existing computers. She’ll keep one of the old ones as a backup. She’ll have Harry Pike install them.

The board agreed to purchase a $50 gift certificate from Keene State Book Store for Alex Young, who is graduating and leaving our library staff to attend Keene State.

The Director’s Report and Financial Report were discussed. It was moved, seconded, and unanimously agreed to accept the reports as written.

New Business:
Leslie handed out copies of a detailed balance sheet for Library assets. The topic of discussion was whether we should add to the principal and/or leave the generated interest in the $10,500 CD to grow principal. Leslie also brought up the option of combining our principal with that of the towns for a better return. The Board will think about this and consider at the next meeting.

The next meeting will be June 10, 2008 at 6:30 pm.
