Pittsfield Website Committee
May 19, 2008
The Pittsfield Website Committee was called to order @ 7:30 pm.
Members present:
Clayton Wood, Chair

1. Minutes of April 21, 2008 were approved.
2. Ongoing Business
a. Phone Numbers: Comments have been received noting that department phone numbers are hard to locate on the new web site. Matt will look at how the listing of phone numbers was handled on the previous site.
b. Attack of the Bots: Matt noted that bots are spamming the comments form.
c. Web Traffic: Web traffic has picked up; however, this may be due to how traffic is being measured. Previously only home page hits were counted.
d. Domain names: Clayton has registered four domain names:
1. Pittsfield-NH.com
2. mypittsfield.com
3. MyPittsfield
4. MyPittsfieldNH
e. Blog: Clayton will move the blog over to the Town’s site (mypittsfield.com).
f. Documents Database: Will be moved over to Pittsfield-NH.com.
g. Committee e-mails: Will be posted on the blog.
3. New Business
a. Archives: Clayton noted that work on the archives is finished. The search function works well on archived documents. Searches highlight words hit. Google search doesn’t search minutes.
b. Police Arrest Log: Clayton met with the police chief to clarify the chief’s request regarding posting of the arrest log. The chief has three reasons for wanting to see the log posted:
i. Community awareness
ii. Accountability
iii. Protection
The committee voted to include the log on the site. Log will be located in the Police section of the site and will not be searchable. Logs will be posted for one week.
c. Residence Privacy: Privacy policy submitted by Clayton Wood was voted on and approved.
4. New Business
a. E-mail Addresses: E-mail addresses will be setup for town officials and departments. Address will be kept generic such as Board of Selectmen, or Town Administrator.
b. Information Location: E-mail, minutes, Channel 24 e-mails will all be housed under the .com address.
c. Pittsfield Youth Baseball Association: PYBA has expressed an interest in being on the town’s website. Clayton will meet with the PYBA to define what they are looking for. The Committee’s current policy is to link to town based non-profits. The Committee discussed the possibility of making PYBA a sub-web with five pages. How the Committee addresses this request will set precedence for future requests.
d. Bob Lemer Photos: Bill will work with Bob Legg in adding some of Bob Lemer’s photos to the site.
e. Old Home Day Photos: As part of this year’s Old Home Day, the OHD Committee will be offering children the opportunity to be photographed in a themed environment (on a donkey or in an old wooden cart etc). The committee asked if these photographs can be placed on the Town Web Site for viewing and downloading. The Web Committee felt this would be fine. Children’s names will not be listed. Bob Legg and Harry Vogt will coordinate the effort.
f. Military Questionnaire: Request has been received to make a questionnaire regarding military service available online for residents to fill out. Matt and Clayton will work on the questionnaire. Matt noted that the form may lead to problems with spam.
