Minutes from the October meeting were approved.
Heidi Meyer presented the idea of a preschool rhythm and dance program.
Parks and Recreation committee decided to sponsor this program. The
committee approved spending up to $100 for start -up materials and agreed
to pay for a room at the Community Center for an initial 8 weeks if they
needed to. It was suggested that they set out a donation box to help defray
some of the costs.
The planning board requested that we come up with some 5 year goals. It
was suggested that we include skating and lighting at the Recreation Area,
Movie nights at the Recreation Area, developing French Circle including
fencing, benches, playground equipment, and lights, and further
development at Dustin Park.
Gene reported that he would be meeting with DES the following week
regarding dredging at the Recreation Area. He will report back at the next
meeting. Minni will contact Ella Stickney to see who might have contacted
DES a couple of years ago. Gene also said that the conservation
committee and the adjacent land owners would need to sign off on any
plan first. The expense for this project will be the filing fee and certified
mailing to the adjacent land owners as long as the town crew could do the
digging.
Basketball was discussed. They have had registration and the 5 th and 6th
grade team will hold tryouts. The school did not like the idea of the portable
basketball hoops so Jason has not bought them. No replacement for Jason
Darrah has been found, but this will definitely be his last year as head of
recreational basketball.
Winterfest was discussed with a proposed calendar for this year’s events.
