November 12, 2008

1. Meeting called to order at 5:35.

2. Attendees: Ed Vien (EV), James Hetu (JH), Lyn Roberts (LR), Helen Schiff (HS), Susan
Muenzinger (SM), and Ellen Barbasso (EB). Also attending Linda Small (LS) and
Matt Monahan (MM) representing CNHRPC.

3. Minutes from October 29, 2008 approved.

4. Community Development Finance Authority
A.Starting a Neighborhood Stabilization Program
B.Money available for non-residential buildings-goes to Tier 1 cities first then Tier 2
(we are a Tier 2 town.)
1. Residential structure has to be in foreclosure
2. Business property does not have to be in foreclosure, but does have to have benefit to the
community
C. MM is going to a workshop on this December 8. he will find out how we can use it.

5. YMCA Cover Letter Reviewed
A. It was agreed that the letter should be sent to the YMCA home office
B. Editing and changes in phrasing were made.
C. DJ will make corrections and send an e-mail to each member to get an approval on the letter

6. RSA 79E Promotional Letter
A. remove “As you may know” – the recipient may not know and we don’t want to offend anyone
B. In first paragraph put (EDC) after the name so people who read it will know what it means further
down in the letter
C. Spread the word about RSA 79E by mailings, putting it in Suncook Sun, newsletter, Channel 24, and
town website. (Don’t rely just on mailing)
D. Identify Paul Scowron as Town Administrator and Ed Vien for EDC at bottom of letter

7. R&D (Research andDevelopment) Tax Credit Promotional Letter
A. The letter is too wordy. Reduce information to a few bulleted highlights
B. Delete “As you may know” (same reason as above)
C. Spell out “Economic Development Committee” then put” (EDC)” in first paragraph
D. MM needs to check with DRED to find out current dates for the applications
E. Delete paragraphs 4, 5, 6 and 7.
F. At the bottom include a statement to contact EDC through Town Administrator for more assistance
G. Print out applications and hand deliver to several businesses in town that do R&D

8. CNHRPC budget-
A. MM gave us a price-out for his time with the EDC..
B. It will go to Select Board for approval

9. Rt 28 sign update
A. Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce discussed the sign at a meeting
B. They own it totally
C. They will pay us for the cost of materials
D. A non-profit can use the sign as long as no other business is using it
E. See if there is any money available for us to put up a Wi-Fi sign.
