Minutes of the Josiah Carpenter Library Trustees Meeting

The meeting of the Trustees of the Josiah Carpenter Library was called to order at 6:35
p.m. on November 13, 2007 in the children’s room of the library.
In attendance: Director Leslie Vogt, Mary Schelble, Bill Provencal, and Sylvia Wallace
Acceptance of Minutes: The minutes of October 9 were accepted as printed.
Old Business:
Update on downspout: The downspout has been installed, Mike repaired the loose
tile, the radiators were worked on by a plumber and seem to be working well, and the
furnace is scheduled to be cleaned on Dec. 6.
Review draft Meeting policy: The Board reviewed and discussed the Meeting
Policy draft. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the draft as amended.
Budget presentations: The Board discussed the recent budget presentations.
Members were concerned about the cut and the probability that the window replacements
and electrical improvements will have to be put off.
Reports:
Members reviewed and discussed at length the Library Functions and Programs
draft and Building Usage Fees for Community Events. It was motioned, seconded, and
approved to pay the employee in charge of such meetings $22.00 per hour.
Leslie wrote a modification for the Permission for Children To Use The Internet.
She suggested that children must be enrolled in the fourth grade and above to
independently use the library’s public computers and access the internet. A motion was
made, seconded, and approved to accept the modification.
Motions were made, seconded and approved to accept the director’s report and
financial report.
New Business:
The Board reviewed the November 2007 addition to the Personnel Policies for
Vacation/Holiday Pay for Library Employees. The motion was made, seconded, and
approved to accept the additions.
Leslie would like to do a survey of the kinds of library materials the patrons of the
library would be most interested in having the library purchase. She would like to do this
for two or three weeks.
The next meeting will be on December 11, 2007 at 6:30 pm.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm.
