November 14th PCC meeting minutes

November 14, 2011 Meeting Minutes

Call to order: 7:00 PM, by PCC Chairman Mark Wallace

Present: All members present: Chairman Mark Wallace (MW), Vice Chairman Bryan Mika(BM), Secretary Diana Westgate (DW), Paul Metcalf (PM).

Reviewed and accepted minutes of the October meeting.

OldBusiness
1. Thompson and Dustin Barker Forests. No update yet on the selective improvement cut. MW will send a reminder in December.

2. Greeley property update: Working on option to buy agreement, insurance and title search following PCC vote to acquire the property.

3. Suncook River Nomination to the New Hampshire Rivers Management and Protection Program. Only NH river without conservation protection. MW took river photos for committeemanTed Mitchell. *PCC wishes to support protection of our river as a wise use of our resources.*

4. New Hampshire Association of Conservation Commissions Annual meeting and continuing conservation education. (12/5/11) MW and BM attended. BM & MW briefed PCC of pertinent conservation issues at the annual NHACC convention: Shore Line Rules, Wet Land Definitions, and Conservation Website development for local Commissions. BM given a current copy of the regulation handbook for PCC use.

5. Rocky Ridge Geer Road Gate and Sign. BM met with Sign-A-Rama. Unanimous vote to spend up to $100 to create a sign. Will place No Trespassing sign on the abandoned building.

6. Black Gum and Rocky Ridge Surveys. Berry almost finished with Black Gum, needs a few more days for Rocky Ridge.

7. Dustin Barker Forest. Progress report due at Dec. meeting. MW will check with PCC forester.

8. Recruiting new members to PCC. MW to check with Paul Skowron as to any responses to the vacancy notice.

New Business
9. MW attended the Pittsfield Historical Society “the Future of Pittsfield” program presented by Pittsfield Economic Development. Areas of encouraged development are often in close proximity to the town cemetery and the future Suncook River green corridor. The PCC will be kept informed about other committee planning so all community objectives are smoothly integrated. MW will connect with appropriate committee chairpersons.

10. “Natural Resources Inventory” needs to done. PCC will make this a 2012 objective.

Next meeting: Monday December 19, 7 pm.
