Pittsfield Economic Development Committee
October 14, 2009

1. Meeting opened at 5:35.

2. Attendees: Linda Small (LS)), Lyn Roberts (LR), Helen Schiff (HS), Deb Jordan (DJ),
Ellen Barbasso (EB), Paul Skowron (PS), Matt Monahan (MM) representing
CNHRPC, and Scott Spradling (SS) from the Spradling Group LLC

3. Minutes from September 30, 2009 approved with a correction. Section 6 just say “certain
parcels.”

4. Other Items
A. Safe Routes to school
1.Grant money is available to do a travel plan study
2. Once that is approved we could get money to do the improvements
B. Park and Ride
1. DOT does not consider it high priority
2. If we get other towns to make the request with us, we may get better response.
a. We could have one letter signed by Selectmen of Barnstead, Pittsfield, Epsom and
Chichester
b. We could ask other towns north of Barnstead to sign also
3. Currently DOT is using the space to leave equipment while they are replacing
culverts.
4.Nick and Craig from DOT will be coming to a Selectmen’s meeting-we can
approach them about it at that time.

5. Survey results
A. MM provided a summary of the survey results
1. High taxes and lack of local economic base were two important challenges
2. MM will redo the first sheet- the format might confuse people
3. A majority would like to see restaurants in town

6. Community Meeting
A. EV will open the meeting and intruduce Scott Spradling
B. SS will give the purpose of the meeting
C. MM can briefly discuss results and highlight some factors
D. MM made a sample newsletter listing tools and highlighting one of them
E. Present an idea for a new Charette
F. Importance of Rt 28 corridor
G. Open it up to get input or questions from people.
H. Use town web site to information to people outside the community
I. Press release is ready to be mailed to board members.
J. Need to get letters signed and envelopes prepared for businesses

8. Next meeting Wednesday October 21, 2009 at 5:30 P.M.

9. Meeting closed at 6:50 P.M.
