MEETING MINUTES
TOWN OF PITTSFIELD
HOUSING STANDARDS BOARD
Town Hall, 85 Main Street
Pittsfield, New Hampshire
OCTOBER 17, 2005
Present – Fred Okrent, Cedric Dustin, Nick Abell, Dave Simpson, Stan Bailey and Bill Elkins, HSA Board, were present. Doug Cheney, HSA Inspector was also present.
Meeting opened at 7:00PM at the Town Hall.
1. Chairman Elkins informed the Board that the inspector now had a digital camera to use during inspections.
2. August 22nd Meeting Minutes – The Board reviewed draft minutes and discussed additions to the minutes.
3. Chairman Elkins stated that the letter drafted after the September work session was given to the Board of Selectmen.
4. Doug Cheney asked for clarification on how to address issues under Sections 702.8, 702.9, and 702.10 regarding the five-year exemption period. The Board tabled the matter for further research and discussion.
5. The Board discussed how Doug should handle inspections of buildings owned by Paul Metcalf.
6. Dave Simpson suggested that Bridgeview be given a notice of inspection for the first week of January 2006 to check on the smoke detectors.
7. Doug Cheney asked about addressing unregistered vehicles on property that he had inspected. The Board advised him to speak to the property owners about getting the vehicles removed.
8. Doug Cheney advised the Board that he had a 20% no show rate and an 85% failure rate on the initial inspections.
9. Doug stated that he was working on revising the inspection sheets. He said that he would bring them in for the Board to approve once he was done.
10. The Town Administrator stated that the Board of Selectmen will ask the HSA Board in for a meeting at some point to discuss the future of the HSA administration.
11. Stan Bailey motioned to adjourn at 8:30PM, seconded by Fred Okrent. All in favor, motion passed. Meeting adjourned.
