Pittsfield Drug and Alcohol Coalition (PDAC)

Meeting Minutes 27 Oct 08
Present; Dan Ward, Zach Powers, Denise Morin, John Webber, and invited guest Mr. Clayton Wood.

Up dates/Old Business:

Mr. Louie Houle asked Dan Ward if their might be some money available to help pay for the $5.00 room fee at the Pittsfield Community Center that AA has to pay for each of their meetings. Those attending the AA meetings are not able to raise the entire amount. Dan briefed the coalition to see if anyone had any ideas. No one at the meeting had any ideas at this time. This item will remain open for further discussion or if anyone should have ideas(s) of how this may be funded. The PDAC does not have funding for this request. (Open)

Sgt Athena Petrin is working on the PDAC logo. She is away on military duty and will brief PDAC with her ideas for the logo upon her return from military training in December. (Open)

Police Officer Webber was asked to get any minutes that he has been keeping for the PDAC updated/posted on the web site. For several months minutes were not kept, as the PDAC primary focus was to assist in the four community forums. PDAC is now getting back to the specific business at hand of the coalition and agendas and minutes will now be posted in a timely manner. (Open)

New Business:

Mr. Clayton Wood (Chairman of the Pittsfield Town Web Site) spent the evening briefing the coalition on the “blog” that he has developed that will allow the PDAC to solicit feed back from the community relating to substance abuse issues in Pittsfield.

Mr. Wood showed the coalition what the blog will look like and he also related some of the features that will help the editors manage the information that will be shared as well as how the blog will be used to get feed back from the citizens. The blog will be linked in the town’s web site and will be managed by the coalition to ensure that the information that is shared is done so in an appropriate way.

The PDAC will be poising questions to the community with the hope that a virtual dialog will be established that will allow the coalition to get a sense of what is going on in Pittsfield relating to substance abuse and what can be done about it.
