1. Meeting opened at 5:30.

2. Attendees: Ed Vien (EV), Ted Mitchell (TM), Lyn Roberts (LR), Linda Small (LS),
Susan Muenzinger (SM), Ellen Barbasso (EB), Gerard LeDuc (GL), Paul Skowron (PS),
Dr. John Freeman (Superintendant) and Tobi Chassie (director of student services) from SAU 51.

3. Minutes from August 24, 2011 accepted and approved

A. Report on Nellie Mae Grant
1. Received money for 1 year planning grant
2. Applying for a grant to get about $750,000 per year for 6 years
3. Must show 3 areas where money will be applied
a. Instructional practices
b. School board policy
c. Community engagement
4. Application due October 31, 2011, decision will be made by December, 2011
B.Focus on student centered learning
1. Develop 21st century skills-collaborative learner, problem solver and communicator
2. Personal learning plan-alternative subject areas
3. Project based learning-use skills in real world situations
C. Dept. of Education in Concord supports Pittsfield schools
1. Could become a model school and staff training center for the state
2. Community Advisory Council includes Senator Jack Barnes, Director of YMCA and other
local people

5. Plan NH Charrette October 1, 2011at Pittsfield Elementary School
A. 8:30-9:00 A.M.- coffee and donuts provided by Vintage Hill
1. Cups, plates napkins and sugar provided by TM
B. 9:00 A.M.- presentation by Scott Collard
C. Itinerary to be set up by EV and MM
D. Advertise in Suncook Sun Sept 20th and 27th-information already submitted.
E. Put information in store windows in town.

6. Welcome to Pittsfield Signs
A. Chamber of Commerce discussing new signs for Rt 28
B. Could have different banners each season

7. Other
A. Irving Station has been mowed and cleaned up
B. Thank you letter was sent to Steve and Donna Keeley for letting EDC use helicopter
