Pittsfield Economic Development Committee
September 24, 2008

1. Meeting called to order at 5:30.

2. Attendees: Ed Vien (EV), James Hetu (JH), Helen Schiff (HS), Lyn Roberts (LR) and Ellen
Barbasso (EB). Also attending Linda Small (LS), and Leon Kenison (LK).

3. Minutes from September 10, 2008 reviewed and accepted as written.

4. Wi-Fi update
A. Wire cutting will take place Thursday September 25, 2008 at 9:30 A.M.
B. It will be at Dustins Park at the Veterans Memorial.
C. Governor John Lynch will be there.
D. HS provided a list of others who will be there (some with letters from our representatives.)
E. HS invited many business people from Pittsfield. Some will attend.
F. We should be listed on Free Wi-Fi Hot Spots
G. Any money we get for advertising should go to the LDC to be applied to economic development
projects.

5. Development Guide for New Businesses
A. Planning Board reviewed the West Springfield Guide.
B. They thought many of the items are not applicable to Pittsfield since we are much smaller.
C. They are working on a plan for site plan review.
D. It is having the desired effect of promoting discussion to make things user-friendly for new
businesses.
E. We are waiting for the Zoning Board to give us their opinions.

6. Grant from DRED for $1,500.
A. Select Board approved and signed the application for the grant
B. No money will have to come from the Town budget.
C. We will submit our volunteer time as matching funds.
D. Money will go to help with implementation of plan for economic development (using CNHRPC)

7.Other –
A. Chamber of Commerce Business Showcase will be October 22, 2008
B. Try to get Steve Heavener to come to our next meeting-what do we do next with LDC?

8. Next meeting Wednesday October 1, 2008 at 5:30 P.M.

9. Meeting closed at 6:30 P.M.
