Budget Committee
December 20, 2006
Members Present: W. Case; Cedric Dustin; Gerry Gilman; C. Keuenhoff; M. Paradise
(School Board rep); J. Prue; L. Small (Select Board rep); Merril Vaughan.
Members Absent: E. Bahr; L. Deane; L. Okrent; H. Schoppmeyer.
Meeting was called to order at 7:25 PM by Chairman Dustin.
Updated budgets were handed out to be added to budget notebooks.
It was noted that the School Budget folders will be available at the next meeting.
The minutes of the Dec. 6, 2006 meeting were approved as corrected.
Budgets under discussion included:
01-4240 Building Inspection Since this is a part time job, there is no health
insurance, life insurance, retirement.
It was noted that printing and advertising, supplies, postage, telephone for all departments
have been moved to one separate budget : 01-4199 Other General Government
01-4441 Welfare Department – General Assistance
Next year’s proposed budget is $175,000. Hopefully, this will be enough to cover the
year, although as of today’s date, $175,740 has already been spent this year.
01-4130 Town Administrator The Select Board will be advertising for a new Town
Administrator. The salary range will be in the area of $65,000 – $80,000.
Other minor proposed budgets were discussed….the Select Board’s budget is based on
current usage in all departments.
The new town contracts are in discussion. Any changes in budget items under the new
contract will be covered in a Warrant Article.
Budgets covered at the next meeting, December 27, 2006, will be Fire/Ambulance,
WWTP, Capital Outlay and Capital Reserve. Linda Small will check with the library
to see if they want to come before the Budget Committee.
Discussions on School Budgets will probably start at the January 3, 2007 meeting.
