December 6, 2006
Members Present: Eric Bahr, Wayne Case, Cedric Dustin, Lennie Deane, Gerry
Gilman, Cher Keuenhoff, Laura Okrent, Mary Paradise (School Board rep), Joan Prue,
Helen Schoppmeyer, Linda Small (Select Board rep), Merrill Vaughan.
Meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM by Chairman Dustin.
George Bachelder was present to discuss the Highway Department proposed budget.
It was noted that Health Insurance will be up 11% for the coming year.
4311-1-411 Fuel Oil This line item will be over budget by the end of the year.
The town bid on #2 fuel which can’t be used by the Highway Department.
The cost of sand and gravel has increased. Discussion was held about the current
grader, which needs approximately $20,000 worth of repairs. It was felt that the
money would be better spent toward a new grader.
The Highway Block Grant is estimated at $100, 631 but this figure won’t be
known for sure until January, 2007.
The only item in the Highway Department Capital Outlay will be a new grader.
All sidewalks in town need to be either repaired or replaced.
Police Chief Wharem was present to discuss the Police Department budget.
4210-1-210 Health insurance line item will increase by over $33,000 due to the 11%
increase and the extra cost of an officer changing from single plan to family plan.
4210-1-640 $4740 will be used for copier and computer maintenance and for the
cameras in the booking room and other places in the police station.
4210-4-190 Asking an extra $2000 for training in the area of Drug Abuse and Child
Abuse and Sexual assault for investigators.. Select Board cut this out of their
proposed budget.
4414-1-120 The Chief has asked for a 3% raise and 2 more hours / week for the
animal control officer, from 10 hrs. to 12 hrs. She need this extra time to complete
her work and has been doing some of the paper work at home on her own time.
Capital Outlay for the Police Department will include a vehicle for the Animal Control
Officer.
There will be no meeting on December 13th. The next meeting will be held at the Town
Hall at 7PM. Budgets under discussion will include the Ambulance & Fire, Welfare,
HAS, and some of the smaller budgetary items.
