Pittsfield Parks and Recreation Committee DRAFT
January 10, 2011 Meeting
Present: Nick Abell, Jesse MacGlashing, Maryellen Plante, Lynda Vogt
Absent: Darrell Wages
Visitors: Paula Driscoll and Al Douglas
The secretary’s report was accepted for the November meeting as written. Lynda made the motion and Jesse seconded. Jesse reported that of our budget of $24,590 for last year, $23,980 had been spent. We will have to watch the line items used for some things. The recreation area overspent the supply budget, but that was made up in different places. Again, the subject of the money collected at the recreation area was discussed.
Ski Program: James Zensky was not present, but the ski program is happening.
Basketball: Darrell is arranging for another coach and will get the records check done. One of the coaches did not pass the check so he had to find another coach.
Dustin Park Gazebo: The commission recommends that Paul Sokrow find someone qualified to assess what needs to be done. Nick also said he would be turning the Christmas lights off.
James Zensky had volunteered to be in charge of skating at the recreation area. Nick will check with Cara about liability.
Winterfest: Last year we got $1025 from the Sanderson to cover PYW expenses. Paula reported on the activities planned at PYW. Those activities will include: Monday, Drop-in hours from 2-6(movies); Tuesday, Laser Tag, Wednesday, Drop-in hours from 2-6(games); Thursday Drop-in hours from 2-6 and a dance at the PMHS Gym from 7:00- 9:30; Friday, snow tubing at MacIntyre, and Sunday, Monarchs game. Other activities discussed were the Senior Luncheon served by the local 4-H club, Candy Bar Bingo on Tuesday and Saturday, the bonfire and sledding at the high school hill, crafts with the Circle of Home and Family, a carnival night with magician, BJ Hickman and a scavenger hunt. Nick will check on availability of the High school gym. Minni will check into Bingo, senior luncheon, crafts, and the bounce house. Paula said that PYW still had some of the cocoa that had been donated from last year that we could use. Minni will contact the Suncook Sun to start advertising and to ask for suggestions and help.
Next meeting: January 31, 2011. Nick will post the meeting as this is not our usual meeting night.
