Parks and Recreation Committee
November 10, 2008

Members in attendance: Kathy Boudreau, Lynda Vogt, Jesse MacGlashing, Nick Abel, Maryellen Plante

The minutes from the October meeting were accepted as written.
The treasurer reviewed the budget. We have money left in supplies and programming. In next year’s budget, concessions were increased from$2000 to $2250.

Harvest Fest Summary:
Hay ride should go for longer next year. About 250 people had rides
We need more pumpkins next year- at least 100
One bushel of apples would have been enough. We could ask Apple View again.
Band –Roxie and the Voodoo Rockers was good- Make sure fire equipment isn’t in front of the grandstand next time.
We would need fewer pies next year.
Face Painting went over well.
Balloon maker was there. We should plan on him next year.

Discussion about basketball was tabled until next month with the hope that Jason will be able to attend the December meeting. Jason asked for a go-to person for Saturdays when he is not around. He had told Kathy that he would get the registration forms to her. The school wants us to get wall mount backboards- aluminum front mount fan backboards. One pair of backboards cost $700 something.

Kathy explained the new ski program that she put together at Gunstock. The board agreed to sponsor this program.

Nick reported that he was taking care of replacing the locks at Dustin’s Park.

The committee voted to allow Gene Marcotte to be our representative to work with DES for the purpose of applying for permission to dredge the pond at the recreation area, pending select board approval.
