November 7, 2007
Members present: W. Abbott, W. Case, L. Deane, F. Hast, G. Gilman, C. Keuenhoff,
A. Maclellan, R. Morse, L. Okrent , J. Prue, L. Small (Select Board rep), L. Vogt (School
Board rep), M. Vaughan.
Members absent: H. Schoppmeyer
Meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Chairman Cher Keuenhoff.

Mary Shelby, President of the Library Board of Trustees and Bill Provencal a member of the
Board of Trustees were present to discuss the Town Library budget.
The Trustees are asking for a budget of $62,301…….the Board of Selectmen have suggested
$61,000. The trustees said they have presented a bare budget and do not where they will
make cuts of $1300. There will be a Capital Outlay request for $25,000 to repair as many
windows as can be done for this amount of money. One estimate has been received for
$14,000 for supplies only.
The budget was perused by committee members and questions asked of Linda Small and
Leon Kennison, Town Administrator.
Insurance costs are increased by 7.4% this year. Town employees are still negotiating for
their contract. They are meeting weekly. The salary and retirement budget lines will be
addressed when negotiations are completed.
Budget items that were studied included
4130 Executive 4140 Election, Registration, Vital Statistics 4150 Financial
Administration 4153 Legal 4155 Personnel Administration 4191 Planning & Zoning
4194 Government Buildings – 4194-1-430 Repairs and Maintenance Repairs have been
done to bring the buildings up to code. 4195 Cemeteries 4196 Insurance 4197 Advertising
and Regional Association 4199 Other General Government
4441 Welfare Department – this department has spent less than 50% of the budgeted amount
for the year due to tightening up of procedures, follow up, and basic enforcement.
4520 Parks & Recreation 4583 Patriotic Purposes 4611 Conservation Commission
4651 Economic Development 4723 TAN Interest
It was noted that heating oil has been locked in at $2.19 for the year.
Leslie Vogt announced that Dr. John Freeman has accepted the job as SAU superintendent.
A new principal will need to be hired for the Elementary School.
Next meeting will be on November 14 at 7PM at Town Hall.
